Procedure for removing bolts on dome

1.  Find a very large 1-1/8'' wrench.  The large torque wrench fitted with a 1-1/8'' socket will do.  You will also need another, smaller 1-1/8'' wrench.

2.  Loosen the bolts one by one, skipping over the four bolts whose numbers are etched into the chamber (the north, south, east, and west bolts).  To do this, have one person hold the nut with the smaller wrench, while the other person loosens the top of the bolt.  This will require a great deal of force from the person on the top and can be tiring.  Remove the loosened bolts and put them somewhere safe.

3.  After these bolts have been removed, loosen, but do NOT remove the remaining four bolts.  These will be used as guides while lifting the dome.
